Welcome to the Club’s Welfare and Safeguarding team.
LVPC has a dedicated Safeguarding and Welfare team. For any concerns or simply a conversation, we’re happy to be the Club’s first point of contact. You can talk to the team either at Club Night or by using the contact details mentioned below.
Members of the LVPC Welfare Team are Sunny Rhodes (Welfare Officer), Irina Medunyak (Assistant Welfare Officer) and Ciaran Edwards (Slalom Lead).
Sunny is regularly present at the LVWWC for her daughter’s training sessions. She has completed the required training courses (SPC and Time to Listen) to qualify for the role as Welfare Officer.
Having volunteered as a parent helper to support her childrens’ activities in and outside school for the past 20 years Sunny has experience in working and communicating with children. She holds a DBS certificate for her post as an exam officer at a secondary school as well as for her role as Club Welfare Officer.

Irina is an active slalom and recreational white water paddler, and an aspiring coach.
She has completed the required training courses – Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Time to Listen, sport-specific workshop and therefore qualifies to be Club Welfare Officer and holds a DBS certificate for this role.
Besides being on the water, Irina is also regularly at the Centre as it is where she is located for work.

Ciaran is an active slalom paddler with over 20 years paddling experience including representing GB at Junior, U23 and Senior level. Ciaran’s working role includes being team leader for Junior GB Team International trips and taking responsibility for welfare and safeguarding on these trips. He’s also a trained mental health first aider.
Ciaran’s role at the Club is Slalom Lead which includes oversight of all slalom activity and being responsible for the development of the Club as a Talent Partner. Ciaran is an active coach who holds the Safeguarding and Protecting Children Training and DBS check.
