{"id":5680,"date":"2026-03-22T20:36:56","date_gmt":"2026-03-22T19:36:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.leevalleypaddlesportsclub.org\/?p=5680"},"modified":"2026-03-22T20:36:59","modified_gmt":"2026-03-22T19:36:59","slug":"stadium-raft-guide-introduction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.leevalleypaddlesportsclub.org\/?p=5680","title":{"rendered":"Stadium Raft Guide Introduction"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><u>Exciting Invitation from Mark Underwood, Watersports Manager at LVWWC<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Stadium Raft Guide Introduction:&nbsp;&nbsp;2.5 hours \u00a314<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;This will be a&nbsp;beginner&nbsp;session to allow candidates to understand the basics of raft guiding in a stadium environment.&nbsp;The session will be aimed primarily at gathering&nbsp;interest for more advanced training in the future.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Capacity:&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4\u00a0or\u00a08\u00a0Candidates\u00a0per group\u00a0(1 or\u00a02 rafts)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dates and Timings:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Group 2 25\/03\/26&nbsp;@&nbsp;1800-2030&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Group 3 01\/04\/26&nbsp;@&nbsp;1800-2030&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Group 4 08\/04\/26&nbsp;@&nbsp;1800-2030&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Session&nbsp;Content&nbsp;:<\/u><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1800-1830:<\/strong>&nbsp;Course introduction including theory around raft design and construction, responsibilities of a raft guide, kit and equipment&nbsp;required, seating positions and crew numbers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1830-1900:<\/strong>&nbsp;Get on the lake and practice raft guiding strokes and explain concepts and crew commands.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1900-19:45:<\/strong>&nbsp;Explore Ferry gliding at the bottom of the&nbsp;Olympic Course, forward and reverse,&nbsp;beginning&nbsp;to explore eddy making.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>19:45-2030:<\/strong>&nbsp;Straight runs of sections of the&nbsp;Olympic&nbsp;course&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Moving forward:<\/u><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those interested in progressing further,&nbsp;we will&nbsp;gather details and&nbsp;offer further&nbsp;training on weekends across April and&nbsp;May.&nbsp;These sessions would be 2-4 hours long on the Olympic&nbsp;Course&nbsp;fitting alongside our existing Raft bookings. We would charge for these&nbsp;sessions,&nbsp;but&nbsp;look to keep the cost as low as possible to make them accessible.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultimately, we are looking for people who would like to become raft guides at the centre and would be able to commit to further training, and potentially join our pool of casual staff or even seasonal staff at the centre.
